Student Video Contest

Oskar Knoblauch
Holocaust Impact Video Contest

The Oskar Knoblauch Holocaust Impact Video Contest invites Arizona middle and high school students to create short, powerful videos based on local survivor stories. Through this educational project, students make a personal connection with a survivor’s story, and help preserve Holocaust memory, foster empathy, and share impactful testimonies with a global audience. We were proud to host this contest for the third year in a row, and expand it to new schools across the state.

Helios Education Foundation

This contest was made possible by the support of the Helios Education Foundation.

Helios Education Foundation exists to support postsecondary attainment for Latino students, Black students, and students from low-income backgrounds in Arizona and Florida. Driven by our fundamental beliefs of community, equity, investment, and partnership, Helios has invested more than $324 million in partnerships and initiatives focused on improving third-grade reading, college-going, and postsecondary attainment in the two states we serve since 2006.

{

I learned the about horrible acts of violence the Nazis did towards certain groups of people and the courage they had to survive. I want others to know WWII was not all about war and fighting but the suffering and courage as well.

{

I want others to know that you don’t have to be an adult to make a difference. Even as a kid, you can be an Upstander, just like Oskar. His story made me want to be braver and kinder every day.

{

I never thought I could feel so connected to someone from history.

{

Oskar’s story made me realize how important it is to stay hopeful and strong, even when life is really hard. It also made me feel proud to come from my community, because we also go through things that people don’t always see or understand.
