Holocaust survivor, Maya Beatrix Konig Goldberg, who went affectionally as Tricky which was her nickname at camp, was born on August 25, 1936 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia to Franz & Adna Konig, but when he moved to Yugoslavia it changed to Franjo. By March, 1939, Maya’s dad had died from complications of a ruptured appendices, as he was trying to get his family out of Europe. Things only grew increasingly worse as Maya, her mom and sister Eva, found themselves on the run from place to place as hidden children in the heart of Germany, among other places. Here is the story of their escape.
