In Europe Against the Jews, 1880–1945, award-winning historian Götz Aly broadens our understanding of the Holocaust by exposing the networks of collaboration that stretched across Europe. While Nazi Germany drove the genocide, it relied heavily on assistance from other nations. Aly traces these roots back to the late nineteenth century, when Jewish advancement in education and society fueled resentment, and explores how nationalism, ethnic politics, and upheaval in both Western and Eastern Europe paved the way for catastrophe.
