Two Weeks Out of the Womb and Already on the Run
Featuring Ralph Vogel
Holocaust Survivor
Friday, June 5, 2026 at 10:00am (mst)
Ralph Vogel was born in Frankfurt in January 1939. Just weeks later, his mother and two older siblings fled escalating antisemitism after his father, Arthur, was arrested and sent to Buchenwald. Reunited in England following Arthur’s release, secured through the efforts of relatives, they continued their journey, sailing to Nova Scotia in 1940 and later settling in the Bronx.
In the United States, the family rebuilt their lives as Arthur worked tirelessly to support them and instilled a strong work ethic in his children. Ralph grew up learning of their harrowing escape and the loss of relatives during the Holocaust through family memory. Join us as Ralph discusses his refugee experience and family history.
