Postcards to a Little Boy: A Kindertransport Story
Featuring Dr. Henry Foner
Holocaust Survivor
Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10:00am
Henry Foner, born Heinz Lichtwitz, was sent from Berlin to safety in Wales through the Kindertransport. He was lovingly raised by Morris and Winifred Foner, while his father, Max Lichtwitz, stayed behind and kept in touch through illustrated postcards. His father was killed at Auschwitz in 1942.
Henry finished high school, served in the British Army, and pursued a career as environmental chemist. He relocated to Jerusalem to build a life and raise a family with his wife.
Today, Henry shares his experiences and discusses the postcards preserved in his memoir, Postcards to a Little Boy. He reflects on loss, survival, and the enduring impact of the Kindertransport.
